Golf in La Paz

There are three new golf courses that have opened in the La Paz area.  Golf is new to La Paz--it is huge 100 miles to the south in the Cabo area--but there have never been any courses in La Paz.  In 2009, the first course opened at Paraiso del Mar.  This is a links style course designed by Arthur Hills.  The course is long and tough with great views and many holes on right next to the beach.

The second course to open in La Paz was at the Costa Baja Resort.  The course opened to the public in November of 2010 and is the first Gary Player Signature course to open in the country of Mexico.  According to the Costa Baja website "this unique course features panoramic views of the Sea of Cortez and an innovative design that complements the unique desert-by-the-sea landscape while ensuring the preservation of the surrounding delicate ecosystem."  For more information about this course, check out their website.

The third course to open in the La Paz area was at the new Bahai de los Suenos development, otherwise known as the "Bay of Dreams". This beautiful course is located about 35 miles south of La Paz and features a Tom Doak course.  Their website describes the experience as "Acclaimed architect Tom Doak’s masterful design at the Bahía de los Sueños Golf & Beach Club takes advantage of the desert terrain by incorporating rocky ridges and wind-carved boulders into an intriguing lay-out that never plays the same way twice.
